RENO — The 2016 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada and TravelNevada photo contest finalists were selected and the top three were awarded earlier this month. Photo categories included People Exploring Nevada, Weird and Wild and an Employee category.

Winners (Grand Prize awards contributed by TravelNevada and Nevada Magazine)

• First Place – Gretchen Baker: Winner of an admission to the Nevada Northern Railway Steam Spectacular, held annually in Ely each January. http://www.nnry.com/pages/photoshoot.php

• Second Place – Jani Ahlvers: Winner of two VIP Pit Passes to Reno Air Races, held annually in Reno each September. http://airrace.org/

• Third Place – Lee Molof: Winner of a Nevada Swag Bag, includes one year subscription to Nevada Magazine, Historical Nevada book, Geko Garmin GPS device, TravelNevada Visitor Guide, Nevada State Map, Don’t Fence Me In Luggage Tag, TravelNevada lip balm/bottle opener/mints, Red Rock NCA poster, Wild Horse/Burro iPhone charger with wall plug, Wild Horse/Burro sunglasses cleaner.

“This year we had over 120 entries,” Barb Keleher, BLM Recreation and Outdoor Planner said. “We are always looking for adventure photos from our visitors and we were very successful this year! We hope everyone checks out our Flickr page to see all of the top photos.”

This year’s winners will be showcased in the 2017 BLM Planner/Calendar to be released later this fall. An announcement will go out to media and on social channels when and where they will be available.
